Straight from the Fingers
Most of the tunes are English but there are a few from further afield, all played in the band’s distinctive Southern English style, slightly slower than bands from the North of England and with more emphasis on the rhythmic nature of the tunes. The Band was formed in early 1977. In 1979 it won an award from B.B.C. Radio Solent as the most popular Barn Dance Band and received similar awards in 1980 and 1982.

Furze Cat
Hekety are a dance band, first, last and in the middle too. But they also believe that if the music isn’t good enough and interesting enough to sit & listen to, why should anybody want to dance to it? And it works a treat. A great, big, thumping, wailing, dark chocolate lump of noise that shoves you onto the dance floor, and then keeps you dancing until long after heart, lungs and common sense have told you to stop. It’s not exactly safe music, not foam rubber Stetson & Roy Rogers cap gun stuff. Of the tradition, but unconfined by it; English country dance music for the 21st century and beyond!

Moor Music
Mark Bazeley (meldeon & concertina) Jason Rice (Accordion) with Rob Murch (banjo) and Gareth Kiddier (piano)
Mark and Jason carry on the Dartmoor traditions of their grandfathers Bob Cann and Jack Rice, as well as writing new material themselves. Their playing is steady and precise yet they play with a youthful zeal and a spring in their step which is the essence of real English country dance music today.
